Course Description
The Whiskey Creek Challenge Course starts at Dolamore Park. It goes in a clockwise direction and first crosses the grassy park from the start line and over the road. It enters the bush, following the Waimumu Stream and over the bridge and about 1 km uphill. It continues along the contour with a few ups and downs making it's way slowly up to the highest point above Whiskey Creek. Descending down to the bridge over the Whiskey Creek at the waterfall it then follows the old water race built in the late 1880s until it descends all the way down to Domain Road Carpark. From here it is a gentle descent along the new Waterrace Trail all the way back to Dolamore Park. Exactly 5km and approximately 200m elevation.
Note - Video may take a moment to load. Also this was not run this fast. Actually took 31min!
Elevation Profile of Whiskey Creek Loop
Fantail Loop Track - Kids Event:

Course Description
The Fantail Loop Track is a shorter version of the Whiskey Creek Trail and with less elevation, but still a challenge particularly for smaller legs! It starts just on the other side of the road behind the top carpark and rather than heading into the Reserve stays within the realms of Council managed Dolamore Park. It heads up through the Rhododendron plantings then around the edge of the macrocarpa plantation before heading up to the start of the Fantail Track. This drops down through beautiful native bush onto the Whiskey Creek trail where the kids will join in with all the other runners for the last 1km back to Dolamore Park. Exactly 3km and approximately 120m of elevation.
